Energy storage of EST-Floattech for plug-in hybrid ferry of Schlepp- und Fährschifffahrt Kiel (SFK)
The vessel name will be Gaarden and is the first new generation hybrid ferry of 32m long and 8m wide. The hybrid ferry will be propelled by two fixed propellers driven by electric motors and have a maximum speed of 11 knots. The electric motors will be powered by two generators or the battery pack installed by Holland Ship Electric. The batteries will be charged overnight at a charging station.
The Gaarden will transport passengers comfortably with reduced emissions due to the battery pack, GTL fuel, particle filter and a SCR catalysator.
We wish SFK, Holland Shipyards and Holland Ship Electric all the best with building and installations and looking forward to more projects for SFK in the future.
Over the years EST-FLoattech has executed many projects with Holland Shipyard on many projects. This way we ensure that our battery solutions are well integrated with the entire electrical system.
With the new vessels, SFK is renewing its current fleet. The replacement of the fleet is in line with the environmental goals set by SFK and the city of Kiel. The city of Kiel aims to be CO2 neutral by 2050 and expects shipping to play a major part in this shift. Replacing the fleet adds great value to this.
We wish the crew and passengers a safe and noiseless journey!
The energy storage system (ESS) delivered by EST-Floattech has a raft of integrated safety features. Its unique active balancing
and passive safety system is applied at the module and string level. Heat is dissipated by a simple off-the-shelf aircon unit. The battery racks are a favorable option as they can easily be installed in a modular fashion.
