EST-Floattech’s ESS onboard of ferry Düsternbrook for Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel (SFK)
After delivering our Energy Storage Solutions to hybrid ferry Gaarden in July 2020, EST-Floattech was requested by Holland Ship Electric to deliver the Energy Storage Systems for Düsternbrook too, owned by Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel (SFK).
The “Düsternbrook” is a fully electric ferry with 24.7 metres, a beam of 6.5 metres, capacity for 140 passengers, 60 bicycles and an automated mooring system.
The vessel will operate within the area of Kiel, between Reventlou and Wellingdorf.
The design of the three additional vessels will follow that of the Gaarden and will be equipped with a hybrid drivetrain that can be powered by either generators or EST-Floattech’s battery-based energy storage system (ESS).
The vessels are part of an ongoing scheme by SFK to renew its fleet in line with the environmental goals it has set out in collaboration with the city of Kiel, which aims to be CO₂ neutral by 2050.
We wish the crew and passengers a safe and noiseless journey!
