EST-Floattech awarded with the electrification of patrol vessel.
The largest patrol vessel built by Baltic Workboats and first in the company’s new range of battery hybrid patrol vessels. The vessel was delivered to the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board on 16 August 2018
Estonian Hybrid Police Vessel equipped with Energy Storage by EST-Floattech
The 45-metre multifunctional wave-piercing patrol vessel is built to perform tasks such as offshore patrol, search and rescue, pollution prevention, firefighting, and hydrographic tasks. Its hybrid propulsion plant gives the vessel a maximum speed of 27 knots, with an economic cruising speed of 10-12 knots.
It is equipped with fully integrated electrical power and containerized energy storage system provided with EST-Floattech’s (Dutch Battery Manufacturer) DNV-GL certified High Energy Batteries. This offers the option to operate the vessel in full electrical mode at a speed of 12 knots for hours of low-speed propulsion with reduced sound and heat signature, as well as greatly increased efficiency. The advantages are obvious and provide further proof of the green shift that is occurring in the marine industry.
Strong export potential for this highly capable vessel
This vessel is built as a showcase and to serve as a patrol vessel for the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board. Margus Vanaselja, CEO of Baltic Workboats, explained that the new vessel has strong export potential and can open new market segments for the company. Optimal safety
The energy storage system (ESS) delivered by EST-Floattech has a raft of integrated safety features. Its unique active balancing
and passive safety system is applied at the module and string level. Heat is dissipated by a simple off-the-shelf aircon unit. The battery racks are a favorable option as they can easily be installed in a modular fashion.
